This is a very timely post as it ties into this mornings study and meditation. Based from 1 Timothy 6:11-12, Proverbs 23:26-28 and 2 Corinthians 5:17.
      Need to remind myself:
      1. Flee from the things of the world.
      2. Pursue holiness, faith, love.
      3. Keep up the good fight.
      4. Take hold of eternal life as we were made for.
      5. Make a good confession.
      6. Give Jesus my heart and observe His ways.
      7. Remember sin is a deep pit, will only drag you deeper.
      8. I am a new creation in Jesus Christ.

Along with this, reading of the Word, prayers and meditation and truly accepting that you are a New Creation in Christ!

Truth! As I walk closer and closer with Jesus my level of temptation is greatly reduced. Plus when I am tempted I have a much greater amount of ammunition to use against it.

Without question, my falls only come when I have let my resistance go. When I turn my back and become self reliant.

“Study the Lord’s prayer and use it to combat habits.”

This has been my “go-to prayer” for some time now. Along with Hail Mary, a very powerful weapon against the attacks from the devil. I have done this for another area of my life that I struggle with. It is helping in that area. I try to start praying as soon as the thought, temptation, or urge pops into my head. I find I can’t give it any time to entertain the idea. I must pray immediately.

I do find with drinking, it is the time of day that is my trigger. Come 4:30ish to 5:00 I really start thinking about my martini. I try and fool myself thinking I’m only having one, but I really mix a double. Thus it begins as I’ll end up with another. I know it is partly a mindset, but more than that I need to bring Jesus into this.
