Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire— 48 where ‘Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.’
The Bible insists on change. I recommend having a quitting notebook and filling it with tips for quitting daily. Why? To avoid the underlined part of that verse.
Second, consider changing the above verse to include your current #1 habit. The problem is…
I don’t think my current worst habit is as bad as the one in the above verse. But it is just as bad. Any habit that keeps us from living God’s way puts us at risk. Consider praying:
“Father, show me the seriousness of my habit.”
Third, what will happen if you change the word “eye” for a word that pertains to your habit? What if you then read this verse daily? What if you pray over it daily?
Fourth, what if your habit is not a Biblical sin? I would still do this exercise because what did Jesus say regarding getting to heaven? “Only those who do the will of my Father in heaven.” Only 49% of quitting is what you stop doing. 51% is what you start doing.
Fifth, consider praying over this verse during the block of time when you are praying about “What God wants you to do.”
Finally, don’t be quick to believe what any man says about these verses. Read them, study them, pray over them. That is how you unleash the power of God into your life.
