Brittany Littrell noted that Jesus said:
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). The technique He is referring to in this passage is simple; cast your cares on Jesus (Psalms 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7). This solution involves a principle and a promise. Here, Jesus speaks to the promise of rest and rejuvenation through the principle of repentance and reliance on Him. If we turn to Him, we are assured we will learn a restorative way to manage tension, regardless of the challenges that come our way.”
Second, when biblical David praised the Lord when bad things happened he went around killing bears, lions and giants. Attack your stress and darkness with constant praise like he did.
Third, try to make it a permanent habit to always rejoice as Paul did. To start doing what Paul did when bad things happened, pray:
“Father, I will count it all joy that ________ happened. I will trust in You and I will keep my joy.”
God wants every single one of us to be glorious shining lights in a dark, dark world. If we are pure and have repented before God, we have every right to ask God for a little light and joy in our lives even when stress is killing us.
While Paul was becoming the great “Paul” he likely prayed a prayer like the one above a 1000 times in one week after bad things happened. He likely said “Praise the Lord” 2000 times, and he would virtually “always” cast his cares on Jesus.
That’s why Paul was really good with stress.
