Many Christians live without Jesus’ power in their lives. People who have daily Bible reading add a bit of power. People who remember what they study and start to do it add more power. People who study, memorize and try to start quoting scripture add even more power. But, sin lowers the power. Habitual sin unplugs the power.
Proverbs 4:20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart.”
Do not let God’s Words depart from your eyes. Consider looking at God’s Word on your phone. Watch Christian YouTube stuff. Listen to Christian music.
Yesterday I said a person who is not overly busy should have a stack of Christian material, and quitting material on their lap constantly. Based on this passage, everyone should have a stack of Christian material on their TV, lap, phone, computer, and anywhere else you can put it.
Verse 22 says why: For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”
Consider praying:
“Father, I commit to doing things Your way. Please fill me with Your power.”
Second, if you decide to pray this prayer a lot, remember to not cause a power outage by slipping back into sin. Consider praying:
“Father, please fill me with Your power. I commit to a war on sin.”
Finally, it is easy in theory to add God’s power to your life. But, gaining the habit of actually doing it is a challenge. Today, will you accept that challenge?
Commitment is the first step toward success and joy. What will you do?
