Jacob wrestled with God. He continued wrestling with Him all night. He continued and demanded a blessing. Finally, a blessing was granted to him.
In today’s church wrestling for a blessing is not talked about much.
Deuteronomy 28:1-68 ESV “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. …”
People who are starting war with sin for the 2nd or 3rd time are wrestling with God. People who read the above passage “every” day, and see that it is starting to work are wrestling with God. People who are fighting to learn the habit of turning from drinking/drugs for the 5th time are wrestling with God. People who are “straining” to learn new habits at this site are wrestling with God.
When we wrestle for a blessing, much change is required of us, and much will be given to us.
