Proverbs 5:22 His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, And he is caught in the cords of his sin. 23 He shall die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.”

Sin always traps us. Consider memorizing the above verses. I watched a YouTube about quitting this morning and someone said: “Memorizing scripture helped me break bad habits but it does not work for everyone.” I say: “If you memorize the right scripture, it works for everyone in helping quitting.”

Second, how quickly we forget the “trap” that going down the wrong road causes. Consider praying:

“Father, help me to replace these tempting thoughts with saying: This is a trap, I will do things God’s way.” Then refer to your list of clean activities.

Third, if we forget to pray about, or fulfill purpose, we will have our hands tied in the cords of sin. When tempted consider praying:

“Father, lead me not into temptation, I want to do Your will. I want to be free from the cords of sin.”

Finally, consider keeping your quitting notebook in your lap. Keeping your phone filled with tips and prayers, and keeping your mouth constantly moving with quitting prayers. That way, you won’t die/have destruction because of “Lack of instruction.”
