We always have a choice. Will we #1 run from sin, will we #2 attack sin, will we #3 fiddle around with sin? Option 1 leads to blessing and the beginning of joy. Option 2 gives us a focus and a plan. Option 3 leads to destruction.
I say 4 times per year that life is like a classic vampire movie. If you keep your house sealed and don’t invite the monster in… You will be good. How do we break the seal? With sin. How do we invite the monster in? With repeated habitual sin.
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
I have maybe told 800,000 people to war to war with sin. Many did not listen. Why? Because they did not understand how powerful the things that they unleashed were.
Bibleref.com noted, “Rulers” seem to indicate a top level of evil spiritual forces. “Authorities” refer to general forces of evil attacking believers. “Cosmic powers” seems to refer to the worldwide nature of this spiritual battle. “Evil in the heavenly places” again emphasizes a battle beyond this world.” Consider praying:
“Father, remind me that I am wrestling with dark powers. Remind me to increase Your power in my life with Your Words of truth.”
Joseph ran from temptation. Why? Because he understood that powerful forces were about to be unleashed. Consider praying:
“Father, help me to fear the dark forces. I will not give them a foothold anymore. I will stay sealed.”
I could not stop my habit ever… Once I gave it even one inch. Why? The dark forces assistance always was too much. Consider praying:
“Father, help me to run instantly from temptation.”
Instant turning keeps the monsters out. Stay sealed, keep them out.
