Habits hurt us. I have quit my main bad habit but a secondary habit is rearing its ugly head. The Bible says:

Philippians 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.”

The results of my ignoring this verse are

        #1 Trouble sleeping

        #2 A loss of joy

        #3 Frustrations

        #4 A loss of peace

        Consider praying:

“Father, help me to turn from triggers and teach me to desire moderation.”

Second, the verse says “The Lord is at hand.”

God has things for us to do. Instead, he is watching me do other things in excess. Ouch.

Third, moderation of other things or other habits helps with the main habit. Sin leads to sin. Excess often leads to the main habit as well. Moderation gives you a better chance to fight against your main addiction.

Fourth, if you learn the habit of moderation, you will start to increase in joy. Why? Because it will be easier to avoid sin, plus… It is what God wants.
