We either do God’s will or we chase the wind. Over the last 24 hours, I have prayed several prayers dozens of times each. The first is:
        “Father, show me Your will.”
When I know what God wants me to do, I increase in joy. I have been increasing in joy for a long time now. I like having joy.
Key #1. Know God’s will. Do God’s will.
        The second prayer is:
        “Father, keep me from temptation.”
To have a great life, we need to go to war with sin. This prayer prepares us to go to war with sin.
        The Third prayer is:
        “Father, help me to turn-from-lust.”
When we live our lives lusting for people, stuff, or a 100 other things… our fun will come from those things. It will lead to emptiness, and it will kill our joy.
        The fourth prayer is:
“Father, help me to care about souls.”
John 12:24 ESV Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”
My ways and my plans are stupid. Jesus wants us to do great things when we die to self, so that He can do great things through us. This prayer helps us understand that His ways are the ways to purpose and joy.
Finally, consider doing everything you can to remind yourselves to pray these prayers. When we are doing what God wants us to do, it is way easier to stop doing what He wants us to stop doing.
