There are two groups of people in life. Those who miss out on God’s blessings, and those who have God’s blessings.
When we are young we don’t worry about the future. We are warned to obey the Bible, but then we disobey and think, “Well, the consequences were not that big of a deal.” Wrong! Ask the drug counselor at the funeral of a client, “What were the consequences of trying hard drugs for the first time?” He will talk for an hour straight about what the first time consequences were. Then you will understand better.
The person going to jail for sex crimes was not aware of the “monster” they brought inside them when they looked at porn for the first time.
But now… it is too late!
Even non sin habits fulfill satan’s purpose. Anything that keeps you from God’s purpose is problematic. When any habit is done in excess, sin follows.
Even with non sin habits, spiritual solutions are vital.
Second, the Israelites did two things wrong in the wilderness. First they continued to consistently disobey God. Second, they just did not do what God wanted done when he wanted it done. Consider praying:
“Father, I am willing to do what you want me to do.”
The Israelites missed out on going into the promised land.
Third, FOMO is a stock market term meaning “Fear of missing out.” Over the long term, stocks historically have always gone up. So investors buy on every dip to make sure they don’t miss the next big rally.
Fourth, God wants to bless us. Satan wants us sinning. Deuteronomy 28 promises blessings for those who obey, and it writes about (destruction added) of those who don’t.
I want the blessings. I want to avoid the destruction. I will go to war with sin.
Fifth, we need a severe FOMO “Fear of missing out.” Consider praying:
“Father, help me to fear the missing out of Your blessings.”
Many have fluffed over the exercises in my 5 articles I wrote this week. Many have tried to change for a few hours only.
But a few have a “Fear of missing out.” Every time they mess up they try harder. Every time they are pushed to do better they try again. Every time they (I) realize
that I am falling short again, I try, try, and try again.
Finally, study how to have God’s blessing. The more you strive to live in God’s blessing, the less that habit will have a hold on you.
Think Godly FOMO – think right.
