If you are struggling to quit, you might be a bit too friendly with your old ways.
A person struggling with porn loves the show that is just over the line.
A person struggling with drinking/drugs loves to hang out with their old buddies.
A person struggling with gambling loves to hear about the spread just for fun.
If you play with fire, you will get burned.
If you play with fire, you will get burned.
I am not sure I made my point yet. If you play… burned, yeah, you got it.
Instead, take some time in prayer so that you will have the Holy Spirit’s fire in you.
Second, we need to love the war.
A person struggling with porn fights to watch clean show. Fights. Fighting to watch clean shows is loving the war.
A person struggling with drinking/drugs fights to make new friends. Fighting to make new friends is loving the war.
A person struggling with gambling (or any habit), fights to replace tempting thoughts with healthy thoughts. Fighting to replace tempting thoughts is loving the war.
Maybe none of these examples apply to you, but if you are struggling to quit, you are likely being a bit too friendly with your old ways.
Consider writing down two ways that you are being too friendly with things that lead you into temptation.

Consider writing your own prayer to go to war with these things. Something like:
“Father, keep me from temptation. I will fight bad shows, I will find clean shows.”
“Father, keep me from temptation. I will fight urges to hang out with _____, I will find new friends.”
Third, do something to help somebody today. Reply to this post and tell the world your new prayers. Maybe you say them 5000 times, maybe you don’t, but if you tell the world your plan, maybe some young kid reads your post and says your prayers 5000 times, then they change the world. Guess what. You get treasures in heaven if that happens. That is good.
Today, consider a committed fight against being friendly with your old ways. Jesus has new, better ways for you.
