Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Jesus has given us this power and authority. But most of us have had a power outage. What causes a power outage?
First, we must read the Bible daily. Skipping that causes a power outage.
Second, we must spend a block of time in prayer daily. Skipping that causes a power outage.
Third, we must go to war with sin constantly. Not doing that causes a power outage.
Fourth, we must move toward purpose by often asking God:
“Father, show me what You want me to do.”
Fourth, do we have authority over bad habits? If we have decided to always run from sin, to always turn instantly from the habit, to always try to do what God wants us to do, then… the answer is yes.
The problem is, we decide to do these things, then we don’t.
Ephesians 4:27 ESV And give no opportunity to the devil.”
Today, consider taking a notebook and writing down every time you give opportunity to the devil. Write down things you did that give opportunity to the devil. People you were around, places you went to, and things you watched that give opportunity to the devil.
If you have a massive list of things, now you know what is taking away your authority over your habit.
Yes, coming back to this site constantly and learning new habits is key. But, if you keep giving opportunity to the devil, you are playing with fire. If you play with fire you will get burned. Consider praying:
“Father, show me how to have authority and power over my habit.”
Yesterday I watched this cool video on authority. And yes, this guy is a little optimistic about all of us currently having all this authority. But we are supposed to have authority.
What if we actually obeyed the above verse to “Give no opportunity to the devil.”
        What if we prayed often:
“Father, help me to give no opportunity to the devil.”
Would our authority increase? Would it someday skyrocket?
I think so. Consider watching that video today, then consider coming back and working on some of these things. I think you will make great progress if you do that.
