We have all been around someone who is aggressively quitting a habit. They say how dumb the habit is. How destructive it is. How they will never do it again. How they can’t understand why anyone would keep living that way.
The more they say things like this, the more often they quit.
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
Consider working daily on the habit of praying:
“Father, Your Word says that You will provide the way of escape. I will work and pray until I see the way of escape.”
Second, many have quit habits by looking up this verse when tempted. Many have prayed over this verse when tempted. Sooner or later, God will provide the escape plan. Keep studying the verse until He does.
Finally, consider setting a goal. How often will you look up this verse? Will you pray over it for _______ minutes per day? How often will you pray this quitting prayer?
Finally, the habit needs to be “Pounded out.” These are Biblical tools for pounding it out.
