Make it a habit to never try to win the jackpot. Solomon was the wisest man to ever live and he repeated advised to not chase fantasies or pipe dreams. There are two great reasons for this. The first is mathematical and the second is spiritual. The math says you are not going to win. Instead of showing the one winner of the 30 million dollar lotto jackpot they should show you arial footage of how many gigantic cities it would take to represent all of the losers. They would have to show full shots of New York city, LA, Chicago, Dallas, and about 5 other cities with each person in each city buying a ticket and losing. They should pass a law that when they show the winner on TV they should have to show a valid representation of all the losers.
They should also have to show how much of the losers money was taken in the states profit. I had no idea how much the state takes for it’s self so I did some research. In Texas they pay out 62% of the money that comes in. So to get a 30 million dollar jackpot they take in about 51 million. Did you wonder why you always lose. Part of the reason is because 21 million of the 51 million dollars does not even have a chance to go to the players.
We are coming down to the last days where I will be recommending the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. Over the last two days I talked about some of you who have a serious case of the “I just don’t care” attitude. Many of you with this attitude have not started reading the book yet and you are still struggling with gambling. If this is you, you really need to find your purpose. You need to be inspired to change. You can buy the book for 4 bucks used at amazon.
If you have the “I don’t care” problem you need to dig in and read and study and be inspired by the Bible. You need to read the Purpose Driven life and make a habit of reading great Christian books.
Some people are alone with nobody and nothing left. You have reached day 37 and all you have is prayer, the Bible and faith. But today realize that you have something very few people possess. You are one of the rare people who are ready for righteousness (RFR). When we are RFR the Holy Spirit fills us. The Spirit flows through us like a mighty rushing wind.
Realize that even when we think we are committed Christians there is garbage in our life. When we are RFR and the Spirit blasts through us the garbage gets blown out at the same time. When the garbage is blown out we can start to help others.
Others still have people in their lives. Sometimes these people nag you to try to get you to change. This causes you to have constant negative thoughts about them. Today, think about what it is like to be around you! What it is like to support you. To put up with your moods and issues.
How would your life look without their support? Some of you would be eating out of dumpsters and sleeping in cardboard boxes. Now the fact is that they should love you more and nag you less. But you can’t do much about that. What you can do is to appreciate them for the support and help they do give you. When they are rude to you practice treating them with love. The Holy Spirit is looking for that 1 out of 100 Christian who He can flow His love through.
First John 3 says we are not even Christians if we don’t treat Christians with love. 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.
Pray: Father, help me to appreciate those who are helping me. Help me to repay them with love and understanding when they nag me. In Jesus name, amen.
Pray: Father, help me to be ready for righteousness. Help me to remember that only I can hold back the mighty rushing wind that you want to fill me with when I am ready. Pray this 5 times each day.
Read Matthew 9, James 5 and 1st John 1
